Slurry Wall

Hello friends, Today I am going to share you about the slurry wall , What are slurry wall and how they construct and whats their application. So first have a look about what are  slurry wall. Slurry wall is a technique of making reinforcement concrete wall in area which is in the contact of ground water or where the soil is soft.
Slurry wall also called the diaphragm wall.

Now you are thinking about what is slurry ...
thin mixture of a liquid, especially water, and any of several finely divided substances, such as cement, plaster of Paris, or clay particles.

Construction

Slurry wall  are constructed by two guiding supporting walls. At the first stage of construction ground surface is excavated at the desired level .Excavation is done by the using of the clamshell shaped digger ,the excavation is done direct to the ground downward direction to desire depth and then excavated material is  excavated.
After reaching at the desire depth then the trench  is filled with the slurry , the trench  filled with slurry all the time to prevent  the trench from collapsing by providing outward pressure to balance the inward pressure of water and prevent water flow in trench .
After filling the slurry in the trench then the reinforcement cage is lowered down in the slurry filled trench and then concrete is poured down in the trench from bottom to up using tremie pipes, the concrete displace the slurry ,which is pumped out and recycled.

Application
  •  Slurry walls are generally used  where the ground is soft and in the contact with the ground water.
  • These walls are prevent the ground from collapsing
  • They prevent the ground water to flow from the wall.
  • Slurry walls are used in the construction of tunnels to stable the tunnels of soft ground construction.
  • Slurry walls used in basement wall where ground is soft.

Slurry walls were used in construction of ONE WORLD TRADE CENTER . And BOSTON'S BIG DIG tunnels. etc..

                                     .......THANKS......
