ABOUT TRUSS

 Hello friends, today I am going to share you about what are trusses, type of trusses and application of trusses.So let's start with what are trusses. 

WHAT ARE TRUSSES?
Trusses are triangle shaped geometry structure which are assembled together to form a structure,and connected with the other members of the structure  . Truss member are  connected with the pin type joints with each other, when external force applied  on a truss member  the reaction are generated on to the joints. In Truss when external force is applied all the members are in axial tension or compression . Generally trusses are of two types PLANE TRUSS ( 2D TRUSS) , SPACE TRUSS (3D TRUSS) .

Types of Trusses.

Trusses are mainly classified as per their application 

1. ROOF TRUSSES:- Roof trusses are those trusses which are used in roofs for the long span and to distribute the heavy loads, Roof Trusses are generally used in factories , Sloping roof of a houses  .These are made up of steel, timber.

a. King Post Truss .

span up to 8 m.

b. Queen Post Truss

span up to 10 m.

C. Howe Truss

span 6 m to 30 m

d. Pratt Truss

                                      span upto 6 m to 10 m 

e. Fan Truss

span upto 10m to  15m.

f. North Light Roof Truss

                                     span upto 20m to 30m

g. Qadrangular Roof Truss

                                               for large span

2. BRIDGE TRUSS:- Trusses are generally used for the construction bridge, these trusses are distribute the vehicle load to the truss member to the bridge abutment. These are made up of steel,

a.Warren Truss Bridge

- compression ,-Tension,- no load

b.Pratt Truss Bridge

                                          - compression ,-Tension,- no load

c.Howe Truss Bridge

                                          - compression ,-Tension,- no load

d.K Truss Bridge

- compression ,-Tension,- no load
